God the Mother
The Bible testifies about the existence of God the Mother as well as God the Father. When we look at all living organisms, we see the same pattern: life comes from a father and mother. This is true for flowers, trees, animals as well as human beings. But ultimately, the mother is the one who gives life to her children. God made it this way to show us that spiritually, we receive life through God the Mother. Let’s see evidence from Genesis to Revelation about the existence of God the Mother.
Galatians 4:28 “Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise.”
1 John 2:25 “And this is what he promised us—eternal life.”
The Bible explains God’s people are granted the promise of eternal life. However, we are mortal beings. Then how can mortal beings understand eternal life and how we will receive it? The Bible gives us the answer.
Revelation 4:11“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
Everything was created according to the will of God, which is to give eternal life to God’s children. Then about the matter of giving eternal life, God made living beings as a copy and shadow to understand about spiritual beings.
Romans 1:19-20 “Since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
God made it possible for us to understand spiritual things through what has been created. Then let us understand God’s will in creating mankind from the beginning.
Genesis 1:26-27 “Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’ So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
When God created mankind, He said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness.” Male and female are created in the image of God. This clearly reveals the fact that God exists in both male and female images. If only God the Father existed, He would have to use the first-person singular pronoun “I” instead of the plural pronouns “us” and “our” when He refers to Himself. However, the reason God repeatedly emphasizes “us” is because there are two Gods—God the Father and God the Mother.
Just as Jesus taught us to call God as our Father (Mt. 6:9), so also the Bible clearly testifies about the female image of God and refers to Her as our Mother.
Galatians 4:26 “But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.”
Let us understand more about God the Mother through a mystery hidden in the creation of Adam and Eve.
Genesis 3:20 “Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.”
Just as Eve was given the name “life,” only women can conceive and give birth to life. Adam represents God the Father who comes later to save mankind (Ro 5:14), and his wife Eve represents God the Mother. The fact that Eve was given the name “life” and she became the mother of all the living implies the truth that all life is given by God the Mother, who is the reality of Eve.
There is a saying that goes, “Women are weak, but Mothers are strong.” How is it possible that a mother can tap into superhuman strength when they need to protect their young? Maternal instinct is the source of power that sustains human life. Even down to the mitochondria in our cells, our mothers sustain our lives with their unconditional love and consideration. How is it possible our mothers learn love in this way? They must have learned it from their mothers, and their mothers must have learned from their mother’s mothers and so on. The unconditional love of mothers can be traced all the way back to a point of origin. The Bible explains that God is love (1 Jn 4:16). When you consider the unconditional love of mothers, the truth of the existence of God the Mother can be deeply understood.
